    Una denuncia anónima nos dio a conocer una situación ocurrida en la Municipalidad de San José, en la que una regidora propietaria por el Partido Liberación Nacional: Patricia Marín Gómez, recibió una invitación personalizada de parte de Johnny Araya para participar en la Cumbre Latinoamericana de Mujeres Municipalistas de parte de FLACMA.

    La Federación Latinoamericana de Ciudades, Municipios y Asociaciones Municipalistas (FLACMA) es un organismo internacional que agrupa estructuras municipales de Latinoamérica y el Caribe, y actualmente es presidida por Johnny Araya Monge, que también es alcalde de San José.

    Según la denuncia anónima que recibimos, la regidora seleccionada por Johnny Araya: Patricia Marín, justamente regresaba de otro viaje similar en Argentina. Los gastos del viaje a la cumbre de mujeres que tiene lugar en República Dominicana tendrían un costo aproximado de un millón doscientos mil colones, y se desconoce cual sería el beneficio para los josefinos que patrocinan sin saberlo, estos viajes.

    Finalmente, la inconformidad de varios con esta situación pareciera haber logrado que Francisco Herrera Hall, jefe de la sección de egresos, enviara una carta al tesorero municipal: Enrique Matarrita Buzano, en la que señala inconvenientes con los inconvenientes de que Johnny Araya seleccione a Patricia entre otras mujeres, y sobre la duración del viaje.

    Es importante que los costarricenses seamos vigilantes sobre la forma en que se manejan los fondos públicos, comenzando a nivel municipal. Enviar a representantes o funcionario públicos a pasear sin ningún beneficio para los contribuyentes es un abuso de confianza y mal uso de recursos.
